After how many hours of searching, studying and reading about XHTML I have made a simple code when I tried validating it. it says that
"This document was successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional!
Result: Passed, 1 warning(s)"
WOW I am so amaze that I have create a site that is validated by the W3 org. now I’m satisfied on my work actually I have only done the part one of my assignment but I’m so thankful about it. maybe tomorrow I will finish the part two. Then by the next day is the part three. Until I finish the assignment up to part 4 that will be passed not later than Christmas day. Good luck to me and also to my classmate I’m sure they have created our assignment better than me. Good luck guys and enjoy the Christmas Vacation.

evaluating a system
Assuming you were tapped by the university president to evaluate the new enrollment system implemented this semester, enumerate your observations/comments and suggest possible areas and ways where improvements can be made. Your observations/suggestions should be properly validated with facts and literatures...(you may start with the diagrams posted in the strategic locations of the university)... (3000words)
Every schools, universities and colleges has its own enrollment system. Here in the university of Southeastern Philippines this past few years was used an enrollment system that was developed by an outsourcing company. The University of Southeastern Philippines paid the outsourcing company to maintain the system. But know this year the University uses a new enrollment system that was developed by the two instructors in the Institute of Computing here in the university.
For me, the old system or the enrollment system was the convenient one for me and also to those college that have few students or enrollees since they don’t need to fall in line just to be officially enroll. Also we used the old enrollment system for almost 4 years and it is convenient for us and those who uses the old enrollment system for the past 3 to 4 years. But as we all know if we don’t embrace change how can certain object improved if we don’t embrace change. Here below is the flow of old enrollment system, for OLD Student first is Paying of fees (Local Council fee, Obrero Campus Student Council fee, collegiate headlight fee and Insurance), second (For scholars) Validate scholarship at the Office of Student Services, third go to your college adviser, submit or present all necessary documents, and secure a Pre-Registration form, fourth Fill up the Pre-Registration form and have your adviser to sign it, fifth submit the Pre-Registration form to the encoder and secure Certificate of Registration, sixth (For scholars) Verify student accounts at the bookkeeper. (For non-scholars) Pay tuition fee at the cashier, seventh complete enrolment by getting stamped “Officially Enrolled” at the Registrar, lastly validating the library card. For freshmen and new student first go to UGTO and fill up student records, second paying of fees (IC Local Council fee, Obrero Campus Student Council fee, collegiate headlight fee and Insurance), third For scholars) Apply for a scholarship at the Office Student Services, Enroll in ROTC or CWTS, fourth go to your college adviser, submit or present all necessary documents, and secure a Pre-Registration form, fifth filled up the Pre-Registration form with the sign of the adviser, sixth submit the Pre-Registration form to the encoder and secure Certificate of Registration, seventh (For scholars) Verify student accounts at the bookkeeper. (For non-scholars) Pay tuition fee at the cashier, eighth submit all necessary documents/requirements and complete enrolment by getting stamped “Officially Enrolled” at the Registrar, ninth apply for a library card.
This is the flow of the current enrollment system this is for the Enrollment Procedure for New Students and Transferees first go to University Guidance and Testing Office for encoding of student information and ID number assignment. Then if you are a scholar go to OSS for scholarship application and releasing of scholarship card. After in ROTC/CWTS for registration and sectioning of CWTS/ROTC, Releasing of CWTS/ROTC slip. Afterward Go To The department or College where you want to be enrolled. Present enrollment requirements, Advising/Pre-registration, Payment of other fees (Local council, OCSC, Headlight and Insurance), Encoding, Assessment of fees, Temporary COR printing. Next go to Registrar and submit enrollment requirements such as Form 138(High School Card), Photocopy of NSO birth certificate, USEPAT entrance examination result, Admission slip, Medical certification, Certificate of Good Moral (original), 2pcs 2x2 ID picture, Prospectus of the enrolled course, 1 pc long brown envelope, Official receipt of tuition and other fees and Printing of Official COR.
This is the enrollment procedure for old students first go to student accounts window and checks the following: student accounts, balance and the clearance signing. Then go to your college office for first advising or pre-registration, second payment of other fees (Local council, OCSC,Headlight and Insurance), third for encoding of the subjects, fourth the assessment of fees and the temporary COR printing. If you are a scholar you must proceed to student accounts to submit temporary COR and to post your accounts. If not a scholar you can now proceed to the cashier to submit your temporary COR and pay your matriculation then the cashier will print your receipt. Lastly go to Registrar and present the following: clearance, official receipts (tuitions and other fees) and the assigned registrar will print your official COR.
This is the enrollment procedure for shiftees first go to student accounts window and checks the following: student accounts, balance and the clearance signing. Then go to your former college get the following letter: request to shift and recommend to shift. After that go to your desired college and present the letters then the new college will accept you and the adviser will advise you. Then go to University Guidance and Testing Office for the student profile update. Then go to your college office for first advising or pre-registration, second payment of other fees (Local council, OCSC, Headlight and Insurance), third for encoding of the subjects, fourth the assessment of fees and the temporary COR printing. If you are a scholar you must proceed to student accounts to submit temporary COR and to post your accounts. If not a scholar you can now proceed to the cashier to submit temporary COR and pay your matriculation then the cashier will print your receipt. Lastly go to Registrar and present the following: clearance, official receipts (tuitions and other fees) and the assigned registrar will print your official COR.
Actually I don’t know how to evaluate a system what are the major parts need to evaluate if I will evaluate the database of the system or the coding or the logic or anything. But I have read an article that about evaluating a system I think will also help me in evaluating the enrollment system. But one question that bothers me, why does the university need to get or need to shift to a new enrollment system? I don’t know what’s the primary reason but for me I think that the university don’t have enough money to pay for the maintenance of the system or they want to use the in source programmers? This is an article that I have read and I don’t know who made this article I only read this in a notepad sorry if I didn’t recognize the author of the article. But this article helps me a lot and I want you to know it. this is about the “What to look for in a Database System”
1. Does the system appear easy to use?
Assuming you received a demo disk or watched a product demonstration, you should be able to get a feel for how to use the system. Are the instructions on the screens easy to understand? Are there clear menu selections? Is there a logical flow of steps or processes to follow? Can you use the mouse to give instructions or move from one screen to another? Are the instructions written in English as opposed to "computer-ese"? These are a few of the things to look for in evaluating how user-friendly the system is.
2. Does the system have adequate installation and reference documentation?
Will you be able to install the system yourself or will the vendor provide this service? Are there adequate, clearly written instructions provided? Is there user or reference material included with the software? If possible ask to see written documentation before you purchase.
3. Is the database relational?
A relational database (as opposed to a flat file) means you can have multiple jobs in process at the same time, while keeping track of each one. For example, with a relational database, you are able to have dozens of active jobs, each at a different stage. At any time, you can locate a particular job, identify the respondents and the client associated with it, and edit information pertaining to the job. And even after the job is closed, you can revisit that job and identify all the details of the job, including the respondents who participated in it. A relational database has obvious advantages over a flat file.
4. Does the system have features that will save you time and money?
Look for the extra features that can boost your productivity. Mailing labels and reports are useful. Pre-formatted recruiting lists and/or sign-in sheets will save you time. Client invoicing is a handy option. If you can identify at least one feature that will save you a significant amount of time that database system will probably be a sound investment.
5. Is the database written in an application that is widely used and has a good reputation?
There are dozens of database applications on the market today. They vary tremendously in cost, ease of use, and popularity. Some database applications have very specialized uses. If the database system you purchase is written in one of the more popular applications (e.g. Access, Paradox, SQL Server), you will gain several advantages. First, your vendor or developer will have better access to technical support. This will benefit both of you if there's a bug or problem your developer has not previously encountered. Second, it will be easier for you to exchange data with other applications such as a word processing program or spreadsheet. Finally, using a popular application will give you peace of mind if you have an emergency and your files need to be recovered or restored. You are more likely to find help locally if your database system is written in one of the more popular applications.
6. Can the system import and export data to and from other applications?
Suppose you acquire a computerized list of respondents, along with their addresses, dates of birth, and other demographic information. Rather than manually entering each record into your database system, you might prefer to import the information directly into your database. A system that imports and exports data in the form of text, spreadsheets, for these purposes can save hours of data entry time.
All the mentioned above is a great help when evaluating a database system this is also helpful in our SAD subject.

in house resources
What do you think is/are the reasons why the university decided to tapped in-house resources, was it a good decision? ( 1000 words )
It was a big issue when the two of our professor in the Institute of Computing tapped by the university to develop the University of Southeastern Philippines Enrollment System. I wonder why they are tapped? Because there is an existing enrollment system. I don’t think the primary reason why they tapped in house resources to develop an enrollment system.
In housing, outsourcing this is the primary issue in the university. The enrollment system we used in last years was developed by a third party company or what we also called outsourcing company. As we all know outsourcing company is expensive and every month the university spend a lot of money. Many of us wonder why we the university outsource for the last years? Maybe it’s because the administration of the university have no faith in the in house resources, and maybe there are persons recommended to outsource rather than in sourcing. For me the following are the reasons why the university decided to tapped in-house resources because:
Less expense. This is one of the primary reasons why the university decided to tap in-house resources. As we all know the university had an enrollment system which was develop by an outsourcing company. And I heard that almost 70, 000 pesos a month was paid just to maintain the enrollment system. In that case I want to be a programmer hehehe. But primarily the issue that by using outsourcing the classroom of the university and the laboratory are not equip with resources because of the wrong investment of the university in outsourcing which we all know its expensive. So the university taps the in house resources like our two professors in the institute of computing. By using the two in house resources the university needs not to pay a lot of expense in creating the USEP enrollment system. And it is always easy for the administration to monitor what was the progress of the enrollment system. In case of changes in the flow of the university enrollment system it will easy for the university to modify. Since it is only walking distance to the developer of the enrollment system. And the developers are accessible
Maintenance is easy. In developing a system or an enrollment system it primary requires maintenance since many bugs and irregularities may occur during the running of the program. Bugs are everywhere it can destroy or make the system malfunction. That the primary reason why we need a maintenance of the system. Since here in the university the enrollment system is useful especially in enrollment season. If a certain bugs or malfunctioning of the enrollment system. It is easy for the user to call the developers of the system. And the user can say what they want to the system and can easily say the problem in the system since the developers are employees of the university. It is the developer will maintain the enroll system which is easy for them since they are the developer of the program.
Future purposes. In the near future specifications may change, a new course, new college will evolved new expenses can be added, new registrar , new personnel and many changes may occur in the near future. It is easy for the university to make changes in the enrollment system since the developers are in house or employee of the university.
The university creates a good decision in tapping the in house resources two instructor of the university. Because by in housing the talent of our professor will be shared through the development of the enrollment system of the university. It was last year when our instructor was tapped it was maam Tammy and sir Michael they are good in programming and database. Sir Michael is my instructor in database 1 – 3 and software engineering 1 & 2. Maam Tammy was supposed to be our System Analysis and Design 1. Sir Michael is good in database since he was our instructor since in first years of our stay in the university. I guess they make the enrollment system wonderful. For me I don’t see what are the difference between the past enrollment system and the present enrollment system. But the person who are primary see the difference between the system are the user like the cashier, secretary, encoder, adviser, dean and the administration. Because they are the primary users of the system. They can see the difference since they are using the old enrollment system for the past years. The primary goal of the university why they tapped in house resources is to make the transaction of the university faster and accurately.
But if I were the university administration I want to the university to outsource not because I don’t have faith in the in house resources but because in outsourcing company they have a development team composed of system analyst, programmers and testers. The outsource company can provide the best programmer and satisfaction to the customers. The university can choose what will be the platform of the program the university can decide java, javascript, c, c++, joomla, mysql, mssql, css, htm and many more programming language and databases. If the outsourcing company doesn’t satisfy your requirement then you can navigate to other outsourcing company. The university can decide when will be the deadline of the program or system. The outsourcing company is flexible in all the requirement of the client. As I know that outsourcing companies primary goal is to satisfy the customer.
But for now.. in this moment we should work hard in order to finish our projects in SAD 2 and maybe by that our project the university will tapped us to create a web portal in the university. Or what ever program they will give to us with a big price.. not just big price but a big opportunity to start. In the field of information technology and computer science. Let God guide us and our professor also will guide and support us.

how SAD????
Our group having hard time setting date and time for our consultation since each one of us has its own personal appointments. Every time we have a plan to have a consultation to our professor my group mates always got bored then in the end of the story we cannot see our professor because when they wait almost an hour they got bored.
Our proposal period we have find a lot time thinking what will be our proposal since our professor didn’t agree to our first proposal but then we come up with our proposal about the Scheduler. But actually I love my group mates though they make me high blood hehehehehe. Because every time we plan to meet @ 9 am they come around 10 am or worst 1 pm…. (george to).. hahahahah
But luckily we are now in the process of validating our questionnaire. But me and my group find hard time in questionnaire. We thought at first that questionnaire will not be validated but now it should be.. hahaiz.
God Bless Us

Last Tuesday February 10, 2009. we have presented our future wearable technology. but before the said event happened. Me and my group mates hesitate about it. Since it was Monday when our sketch was approve. Pero okey lng napprove man japun.. well me and ate Norma work hard in our diorama. we made our diorama in ate Norma’s hauz since one of my co-group did not want us to made in her room. We have agreed that she will make our future video but luckily she did not. And she always dabog2 in her room hahaiz….. For me she always thinks that she has done a lot in our project. I don’t know why she acts like that. Maybe because she is the youngest, but it’s not the point she always acts like that. But so much for that I have been so nervous during the event when we presented our future technology. But I have done my part and I hesitate that the person I invited has come. And I thank GOD we have done it right. And to the person who test my patient thank you pud.. may gain nakapugong pako.. heheheheh sunod nalang ko makipagtigi sa imuha… kung mapuno na jud ko.. hahahahah kaila naka sa imung sarili…. Christmas vacation is one of the wonderful vacations that students have especially those students who want to come in their province for the said Christmas day and New Year’s Day. They expect that the vacation will be wonderful and especially to forget about the problems especially about schooling but many of us including me. And think only to bond with the family members that only went home for Christmas but sadly it was not the Christmas vacation I want.

I think therefore I am
A saying was introduced to us by our professor during our class in the Nodal center last December 6, 2008. It was around 9 am when our professor writes a quote in the white board that stated “I think, Therefore I exist” by Rene Descartes. Honestly I don’t know what the quotes talk about. I doubt what would be my answer. Since my classmates tell that the quote was about I exist because I think. But as the days goes by, I don’t really know what the real meaning of that quote was. So I sat down on the chair and google the phrase “ I think, Therefore I exist.” – Rene Descartes. It is all about thoughts and doubts. A certain writer tells and formulated that Existence = doubt + thought. But I don’t really know how they come up with that idea if we derived it to find thought = existence – doubt? But I don’t really get the idea. So as I reflected on the sermon of our professor in my own idea that for me, I think therefore I exist, means that each one of us should think not only in our selves but also for others and for the good of everybody. Existence not only in physical aspect but also mentally aspects. That Saturday was another day that will mark my calendar because another call or sermon that was again delivered to us. But luckily our professor did not get mad to us. But as summary “God think, Therefore I/we exist”. Have a nice and wonderful day. Merry Christmas in advance..

late comerzzzzzzz
I was late in our subject Future Technology last Saturday November 29, 2008 and our professor said “Diba nagsabot na tan a la nay malate… riza”.. I only reacted with a smile… hehehe (naulaw jud ko…). I felt guilty I thought I was the only one late but thank God I’m not.. heheheh. Though I’m late but there is only one quote that always reminds me that “its better to be late than to be absent” hehehe but as a student I must come to school early or on time. Actually it only takes 15 minutes in order for me to arrived in school. But I don’t know that usually around 8 – 9 in the morning that’s the time were many people go to their work. And it is traffic.. since I’m not used to go to school in the morning it is usually at noon. Hahaiz… (late na gain sige pako explain… heheheh).
All group was finished the report in that day. Its hard for me just to seat and listen to the reporters. In the morning unit 3 was able to present their assigned topic almost 3 hours. Imagine 3 hours of sitting and listening. I find my self weak that time. no other work just sitting and listening. Hahaiz… in the afternoon time for unit 4 and unit 5 for their presentation.. now another 4 hours of sitting and listening. Iam able to report my topic which was the future of education.. but I was not able to deliver it well since I am hungry, tired and specially sleepy. But then the report must go on. Imagine it is about 4 hours without a break. If you were in that situation maybe you will collapse.(over… hehehe). It is about 5 pm when I sign to April that it is already time. because I want to go home, I have felt at that time headache and my eyes is tired and even my mind.
There’s one question that our professor asks to us.. it was “ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE FUTURE?” my answer is NO….. future will come no matter what we do. It is a part of our life. Maybe many things will happened that time. and in that time I’ll make sure that those things whether BAD or GOOD will make me a productive and a better person…….
