COMDDAP

COMDDAP or the COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS, DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES is an association of the country's top information technology businesses, leaded by their president JEFFERSON T. PLAZA (General Manager, Advance Solutions, Inc). Promoting the sustainable development of the of the country's information technology industry through voluntary collaboration of its member companies is the primary objective of the said association. COMDDAP also provides their members general views and updates from different high individuals and sectors, private or non private to keep up the spirit and the knowledge to its organization. Its vision is to promote and elevate the standards of IT or the Information Technology in the Philippines associated by the groups of outstanding computer companies. The vision of promoting and elevating the standards of Information technology (IT) in the Philippines fueled a group of prominent computer companies to form the Computer Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines or COMDDAP. Its initial member-companies represent the world's leading makers and providers of computer products, solutions and peripherals. In 1997, the manufacturing sector - represented by industry leaders Hewlett Packard, Epson and Compaq, among others - was integrated into the COMDDAP membership, making the association a more diverse representation of the IT sector and thus the new name, COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS, DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES. This is according to the http://www.comddap.org/aboutus.htm

Last July 2, 2009 an important event has been conducted in Apo View Hotel in Davao City with tht title “COMDDAP DAVAO EXPO 2009” I think this is one of the biggest event held in Mindanao that talks about IT industry. I was first registered for the seminar which will be held at Apo View Hotel last July 2, 2009 at the http://www.comddap.org/aboutus.htm but unluckily a confirmation was not sent to me so I registered to this link http://www.nexusgroup.com.ph/tng/registration.php . Me, and my classmate went to Apo view around 10 o’clock am but we don’t know where the room of the seminar about the Windows Server 2008 - Edupro Inc. So we take a look at the exhibit in which there are a lot of exhibitors. Many of technology were introduced and put in to exhibit.
Around 11 o’clock in the morning we take our launch and by 12 o’clock noon we went to the room where the seminar will be held there we wait for an hour in order to start the seminar. The first presenter was the The ERIC Dealer Management System - Jupiter Systems, Inc. in which they introduce us about their products and the system they are using. I’m not so interesting about the topic since they merely focus on the cars. But when they tackled about the system they are using I was then interest about the system. The system they are using is the SERVICE MANAGEMENT. Jupiter Systems incorporated is a Philippine-based IT company dedicated to delivering business solutions for medium to large companies globally. JSI is one of the most experienced software houses in the Philippines and was one of the pioneers of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in the country. The company has been delivering business solutions for the past 25 years. According to their site http://www.jupitersystems.com.ph/about.aspx.

around 2 o’clock in the afternoon the next presenter was the The HP Thin Client - Nexus Technologies, Inc.. they tackled about the thin client. According to the Wikipedia.org “Thin Client is a client computer or client software in client-server architecture networks which depends primarily on the central server for processing activities, and mainly focuses on conveying input and output between the user and the remote server. In contrast, a thick or fat client does as much processing as possible and passes only data for communications and storage to the server”. Thin client has its features that saves electricity and produces less radiation.

It is nice to be involved in this kind of activities. Activities that will open or eyes and mind in the real world of information technology and business. Many of us including me don’t really know what will be my future carrier to take. I’m so grateful that I have join and participate in the activity. I’m looking forward those activities will be held in Mindanao especially in Davao City.
